And the Oscar goes to...

With the Oscar's only a few months away, there has been lots of questioning on whether or not actor Heath Ledger should be nominated for his role as The Joker in 2008's The Dark Knight. Personally, I thought that we was absolutely amazing. After his sudden and tragic death in 2008, I wasn't sure if I wanted to see him in his last movie. I have been a fan of his ever since 10 Things I Hate About You, the romantic comedy. But, after I heard the excellent reviews, I knew that this was one movie that I couldn't miss, and I was right. Every time he came on the big theater screen, he wasn't Heath Ledger anymore. He truly was The Joker in every way. He was creepy, sarcastic, and evil. Even though he has died, there is no reason why his talent in this film should go unnoticed.

this poses a good question. I think if people truly believes he deserves the award maybe it should be honored in his name and they could give it to the runner-up or something? tough call.

I agree, it is a hard decision whether or not he should be given an Oscar or not. I think that he was amazing in the movie, but have they ever given an Oscar to someone who died before? I think that it is kind of weird. I was watching the peoples choice awards the other night and The Dark Knight won for best movie of the year and when they came up they briefly mentioned him. I thought that they should have done more to honor him. I guess that we will see.

I personally haven't seen "The Dark Night," but I have heard it is amazing. Also, I have heard that Heath was pretty good in it. Here's the thing about him and the Oscars, like in the Grammys, if someone dies, such as Johnny Cash did last year, they get a huge boost for the award that they are nominated for. I'm guessing he's going to be one of the roles for "Best Supporting Actor" and will either win it, or come very close.

I have heard a lot of talk about Heath Ledger winning the oscar for "Best Actor". I believe that his overdose does not affect the acting talent that he had while he was alive. Oscars are awarded for talent, not the life choices a person makes. Also, if he does win "Best Actor," either his father or his ex wife (the mother of his daughter, Matilda) will accept the oscar for Heath. I think this would definitely be the best option instead of the runner-up accepting his award.

This is a great point. I am also a major fan of his. He actually won in the Golden Globes last week. The speech made on his behalf was really great. The Golden Globes are always a pretty standard predictor for what is to come for the oscars. I think that there will be a good chance he will win again. I definitely think that he deserves it!

Hi Madeline!

I also have to say that his performance was exceptional -- better than Jack Nicholson's take on the same character in the older Batman film.
